Integrating Social Emotional Learning into School Settings Project (iSEL) In August 2023, SideBySide and Save the Children Hong Kong began strategically collaborating to plan and implement the “Integrating Social Emotional Learning into School Settings Project”, aimed at promoting students’ mental health through social and emotional learning. The project offered 12 social and emotional lessons for both Primary 5 and 6 students, along with school-wide activities during Social and Emotional Learning Week, including booth games, parent talks, teacher workshops, and various community events. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the project served over 6,000 primary school students participating in social and emotional learning course, booths, and community activities. Additionally, it provided lectures for 80 parents and workshops for more than 70 teachers. The programme effectively enhanced children’s awareness and management of their emotions, social ability, and understanding and practice of empathy. Among the Primary 5 and 6 students who participated in the 12 social and emotional lessons each from 2023 to 2025, their average score for social and emotional competencies increased by 4.84%, reflecting that the project’s intervention had a positive impact on the students. Hong Kong Drifters x Vitality Place Mental Wellness Workshop On 12 March 2025, Vitality Place hosted the “Mental Wellness Workshop” at Venue Y83 Student Accommodation, targeting Hong Kong drifters (Individuals from Mainland China to study or work in Hong Kong). Through an inspiring speech by Mr. Ho Kai-ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, the event encouraged participants to courageously face life’s challenges. The workshop featured an educational talk on mental health, offering young drifters valuable information about psychological well-being. In the “human library” session, peer supporters shared personal recovery stories, deepening participants’ understanding of persons-in-recovery.
