Sail with you - Youth Career Life Development

With the support of the HYAB JC Scheme for Youth Life Planning (2025-28), the three-year "Sail with You–Youth Career Life Development" (the "Project") was officially launched in September 2025, working with over 2,000 students from 11 secondary schools and schools for social development in Hong Kong to develop their own career blueprints.

Based on the "Youth Development and Intervention Framework", the project aims to cultivate students’ core competencies in life planning through self-exploration, horizon expansion, and connection establishment with their careers through three aspects: "New Relationships, New Experiences, and New Identity". The project will also provide individual career counselling to students in need and school leavers to consolidate their career adaptability and strengthen their confidence in achieving their career aspirations.

計劃理念

We believe that every young person deserves a growth journey that brings out their individual characteristics and strengths. The core concepts of the project include:

  • Whole-person development: Not only focusing on further education and employment, but also paying more attention to mental health, financial management skills, law-abiding awareness, and national identity, cultivating young people's adaptability and resilience to face the future.
  • Diversified Exploration: Based on the "Youth Development and Intervention Framework", diversified activities are designed to allow students to gradually establish core competencies in life planning based on their interests.
  • Professional support: Combining narrative practice and strengths-based approaches, and introducing the VASK-ME model (values, attitudes, skills, knowledge, motivation, emotions) to help young people understand themselves and plan for the future.
  • Connect resources: Integrate the forces of schools, families, communities, and enterprises to promote mentorship programs, workplace experiences, and cross-border exchanges, so that young people can connect with the world.

We hope that through this project, young people can establish a positive career identity and develop their own aspirations, enabling them to confidently navigate the future.

Our Goals

1. Systematically optimize school career planning

Based on the Hong Kong Benchmarks for Career and Life Development, establish and enhance the school's life planning services to develop a sustainable model of good practice intervention that responds to the needs of students at different stages.

2. Inspire students to explore through diverse activities

Based on the "Youth Development and Intervention Framework", it provides a platform for exploration and opportunities for students to establish a deep connection with their career planning.

3. Deepen career planning experience and self-awareness

Use narrative practice and strengths-based approaches to help young people understand life planning and promote self-exploration.
